The goal of Loving Care camp is to develop confidence and self-esteem for each of our campers in a fun environment. Sessions are designed to give the campers a fun time, while fostering increased self-esteem, improved communication skills and peer interactions.

Our small groups and low adult to camper ratios enable us to give personalized attention to each day-camper. Supervised by education and health professionals, our goal is to provide a fun, positive summer experience while supporting therapy goals and gains made as a result of school-year experiences and the home environment.
Session One - Social Skills
Learning and maintaining positive social skills are important for everyone. Our trained staff works with children to improve social interaction and to know how to act positively in social situations in ‘work disguised as play’ activities.
Social Stories

The social stories approach, developed by Carol Gray, uses descriptive sentences with a setting, characters (people or animals), feelings, thoughts, and appropriate actions. Illustrations of the stories help visual thinkers understand what the characters say and do, and emphasize feeling and thoughts.

Social topics will include:
  • Celebrate success
  • Integrate new behavior
  • Understanding community
Fun games focusing on cooperation and exploration

We offer games and activities that can be adapted to each child’s need and organize group activities so that everyone gets involved!
Session Two - Nutrition and Fitness
Activities are designed to help participants learn about:
  • Eating a variety of foods including grain products, vegetables and fruits
  • Nutrition basics
  • Balancing the food we eat with physical activity
Other fun activities that campers participate in:
  • Music and movement
  • Adaptive yoga
  • Active group games & sports
  • Fun activities to do at home
Session Three - Life Skills
Age appropriate activities to help each camper be as self-reliant as possible.

Session includes:
  • using and saving money
  • using a pill box
  • using the phone
  • what to do in an emergency
  • and more

About Our Sessions:
Each session is designed to teach children about a specific topic or to help children learn or improve a skill or skill set. We will concentrate on one topic or skill for two to three weeks.

Your child may attend one week of any one session, all of one or more sessions, or the entire nine week summer camp. We also offer full-day and half-day schedules for all three sessions. We will work with you in creating the right schedule for you and your child.

Will all of our session activities fit every child?

The answer is simply no. That is why our session activities are adaptable and fixable. During our sessions, we rely heavily on what we call our “MPP” system: Modify, Practice, Praise. We recognize that each child may take something different away from each session topic and each activity. All of our activities are designed so that they have one thing in common: Fun! – Because that’s what summer is all about.
